At least 1 in 9 of the UK workforce combine work with unpaid care, and balancing the demands of caring with the responsibilities of a paid job can be extremely challenging.  Being a Carer can be like having another job on top of their paid job, and on top of their family commitments, hobbies or interests.  As caring is unpredictable, it can be difficult to fit around work and Carers often feel they have no choice but to reduce their hours, change to less demanding careers of even give up work altogether.  As many as 1 in 5 people with significant caring responsibilities end up giving up work.
