Join us in the Great North Run 2018 and raise money to support Carers in South Lakeland!
Last year our Chief Officer Mike Seaton led a team of runners in the Great North Run and raised almost £1,000 for our work with Carers.
We’ve been lucky in securing five places in this year’s event which takes place on Sunday 9 September in Newcastle and we’re looking for runners to join our team. Not only would you be taking part in one of the most popular half marathons in the world, you’d be raising money for a tremendous cause.
56,000 runners take part in the Great North Run each year. There’s tremendous competition for places with far more runners wanting to take part than there are places available.
If you’re interested in joining our team or if you’ve obtained your own place through the ballot and would like to raise money for us, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org 01539 815970.

They offer high quality, fully integrated managed services and work closely with customers to develop innovative, cost effective solutions. They work with Cumbria County Council to offer a telecare service to support people to live independently in their own home. Telecare is based around a pendant worn around the neck or wrist. This provides access to a 24-hour monitoring service offering an instant response at the touch of a button from anywhere in your home or garden.
We are also very grateful to the Cumberland Building Society for sponsoring the training sessions for our Young Carers entertainment at the dinner.

We’re working with Space2Create to offer a weekly art session specifically for Carers each Tuesday from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm.
Research proves the benefits of being creative as part of a group. The sessions will help anyone who has found themselves isolated or excluded while caring for someone with long term physical or mental health conditions. They provide creative opportunities such as painting, drawing, collage and craft, which are supportive, accessible and unthreatening. All S2C sessions have a very positive atmosphere and the participants are mutually supportive. The sessions help to boost confidence, self-respect and wellbeing.
All materials are provided, but a suggested donation of £3 is welcomed.
