We were delighted to be the guests of Cumberland and Westmorland Freemasons at Kendal Leisure Centre on 9 September in an evening which saw £120,000 donated to a dozen charities across Cumbria. We were presented with two cheques by Provincial Grand Master Norman James Thomson and the Marquess of Northampton.
The first, for £6,000, came from the Masonic Charitable Foundation, the Freemasons’ central charity, and was the result of the public vote held over the summer. We’d like to send a massive thank you to everyone who voted for us. The money will support our work for Carers of people with dementia in South Lakeland.
Additionally, as part of their Tercentenary celebrations, each lodge was asked to nominate a local charity to receive a donation and we were fortunate to be the successful charity in South Lakeland. This donation, of £10,000, will support the development of South Lakeland Carers as we move forward.
Our Chair, Liz Cornford, Director Mike Seaton and Fundraising Officer Janice Benson attended the evening where we were extremely well looked after and enjoyed a concert from a capella group Voces 8. You can read more about the evening in the Westmorland Gazette.
Once again, we’d like to offer a huge thank you to the Cumberland and Westmorland Freemasons and to everyone who voted for us. The donations will make a big difference to the lives of Carers in South Lakeland.
