If there are any issues you feel you need to discuss in more detail, talking to a counsellor might be a positive way of doing this. It can help you get things into perspective, and help you see things more clearly.

What is counselling?

Counselling offers a safe and confidential space in which to explore your thoughts, feelings or difficulties, without being judged. This exploration can help you to develop a better understanding of yourself, so that you may be able to move towards making changes in your life and develop strategies for getting through.

Where does counselling take place?

Our counselling takes place in private counselling rooms at our offices

Unit 16, Shap Road Industrial Estate, Kendal, LA9 6NZ

When can counselling help?

There are many reasons that may prompt people to seek counselling support,  anxiety, stress, feeling unhappy or unable to cope, lacking in confidence and self-esteem, family or relationship problems, struggling with a crisis, experiencing loss or bereavement and when facing important and difficult issues. Having someone who has time to listen can make things seem less overwhelming and help you make sense of what is happening to you. This takes commitment to the process.

What can I expect?

Our counsellors work in a PersonCentred way. You won’t be criticised or judged. You will be respected for who you are and valued as a unique and resourceful individual. They will work in a sensitive, open and honest way and support you to find your own way forward, rather than give advice or tell you what to do.

Is counselling confidential?

You will be offered a very high level of confidentiality. Anything you say will remain private, with just a few exceptions, which your counsellor will explain to you in the first meeting.

About our counsellors …

Our Volunteer Counsellors and Counsellors in Training are members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), work to the BACP Code of Ethics for Counsellors, have regular professional supervision and hold professional insurance.

How long does counselling last?

Counselling sessions are usually one hour long and arranged weekly or as required. The number of sessions you need will be reviewed throughout the counselling process.
