200 people joined special guest Tim Farron on Friday 24 November to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The evening also saw the launch of our Anniversary Appeal to raise £25,000 to support our work with Carers in South Lakeland.
Guests at the Castle Green Hotel enjoyed a fabulous three course meal followed by dancing to The Seals (back by popular demand). There was a fantastic raffle and auction with prizes donated by local businesses – a highlight of the evening with Bill Nelson from 1818 Auctioneers.
The event exceeded expectations with £10,000 raised to kick-start the appeal including £1,200 sponsorship from Welbeing, a £1,000 donation from Booths, £200 from the Cumberland and – the icing on the cake – match funding from Barclays which added £2,000 to the appeal.
We would like to thank everyone who supported this event including all our guests, our amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly during the evening and the organisations who donated prizes.
Special thanks go to our sponsors for the evening:
Welbeing, our event sponsor, one of the leading telecare companies in the UK. They offer high quality, fully integrated managed services and work closely with customers to develop innovative, cost effective solutions. They work with Cumbria County Council to offer a telecare service to support people to live independently in their own home. Telecare is based around a pendant worn around the neck or wrist. This provides access to a 24-hour monitoring service offering an instant response at the touch of a button from anywhere in your home or garden.
The Cumberland who sponsored the film made by our Young Carers which was shown at the event.
Many thanks to our auction prize donors:
