We are very proud that one of our volunteers, Glenys Williams, has won an award for her work with us. In March she became the northwest winner of the Marsh Award for Carers.

The award recognises volunteers who are carers, or former carers, and who volunteer to help other carers. It is awarded by the Marsh Christian Trust in partnership with the Carers’ Trust.

Glenys was referred to us as a carer in 2010 when she was caring for her father. A few months later, she began doing administration work with us in the office. Since then, Glenys has volunteered at least weekly in the office, and has begun as a Sitting Service volunteer. She also helps out at the Whinfell Centre with the newsletter mailout.

The work she does makes such a difference to the work of South Lakeland Carers, and of course to carers. We would all like to thank Glenys sincerely for the support she gives – it is a pleasure to have her on the team, and she truly deserves the recognition from this award.
